box specs?

quick question about a sub box. Lets say subwoofer X needs a 1 cu ft box.

Does that 1 cu ft just mean a 1 cu ft box when empty??

or a 1 cu ft box AFTER the sub is installed? since the sub it self with take up a certain amount of space.

TIA

lets say subwoofer "X" needs 1 cuft. to go further, lets say thats the sub's recommended volume. with that being said, the recommended volume means the space with the sub installed. so the box will have to be slightly bigger than 1 cuft.

a box, especially a sealed box, has some leeway. u can build it bigger or smaller by 10-15% without ruining performance that much. the manufacturer gives a range for any given sub.

so if u build ur box a little bigger or smaller than 1 cuft, u wont have any problems.
