3rd Generation Is there any merit in using just ONE car audio brand?

I have a question for the audiophiles and budget-monks... I recently purchased my sub and amp from a pawn shop (I want to save for my next setup... Nakamichi) All of my information is in my signature, but just to clairfy

Sony CDX GT-200 Headunit
Sony XM-502Z Amplifier 250 x 2 channel
Sony XL-S1235 Subwoofer 12" 800w

Is there any advantage to having the same brand for a setup? I figured that it would be better cause when I upgrade I can sell everything at once, which could save a lot of possible headache.

I have the Insignia 6.5" 3-way speakers as well in my front doors, too, BTW.

SO, what do you all think?

IMO, you put money into Sony that you will be lucky to get rid of, or will take a huge loss if you do get rid if it.

IMO, consider the Insignia speakers a total loss.

mix and match is the only way to go. unless you are sponsored by one company and they say you cant run anything else OR you have a complete show car and want it all to match and look the same, running the same brand components in a car is just a waist of time and money because rarely does one company make everything that sounds good together.

I never would have guessed that. I know that for home theater and surround setups they strongly recommend staying with a single brand, so I figured that the same would be true for car audio. Damn, that was a waste of money.

Like what they said. I've noticed that for those here who like to upgrade a lot, when it comes to selling, it helps that they have things from the better end of the spectrum and this usually means mixed and matched components. But if you like what you have and aren't the type to upgrade often, that's usually what one brand is---sometimes you pick up package deals.

Really there is no real benefit since they're all just a bunch of circuits with capacitors, resistors et al. The only benefit would be integration some kind of universal control is offered.

Well, it's all installed and it sounds good for what I wanted... low end to compliment the high end.
