2000 Camry-where safe to put deadening material?

Hi all:

I've deadened the external door metal of my front doors. how do I know what areas are safe to lay down deadener on the inside door metal (the area over which the door panel sits)? I mean, it's such an irregular shape, and I know some of the areas of the door panel must go into it.

In other words, how do you know what areas won't interfere with putting the door panel back on? If I screw up (which I'm likely to do without help), I'm guessing it would be pretty hard to remove the stuff, and pretty time consuming.

I'm using Hushmat original.
