Angry Alarm driving me nutz...

So I've got a 97Camry xle with some sort of factory alarm. It will at the most annoying times decide to set itself off for no particular reason.

- only when left UNLOCKED, I'm pretty sure just the drivers door unlocked, the other three still locked.
- just a minute or two after I get out of it, the alarm sets off, lights and horn.
- today I noticed after getting in while it had sat unlocked, the security light on the dash came on solid, like it usually does when first locking it before it starts to blink. I opened and closed the door again and it didn't come back on.

So for some reason the security wants to set itself after I close but not lock the door. Then it probbly senses the door unlocked and sets off. (just a guess)

I had brought it to the dealer earlier but they said it seems to be fine. I don't think they really did anything.

So, can the alarm be reprogrammed? Disabled? I've done a search and found some stuff but not anything to help me here.

If anyone has insight to this please help me out. Thanks.

Gene.

On my 94 I had a factory alarm.... an Alpine security system. It had one single-button remote that loved to stick FOR NO APPARENT REASON.... it once went off for 10 minutes while my cousin and I looked around in a Movie Gallery, then I discovered the button was stuck. My solution: (since I had just changed form my dad's honda to my camry) install the Viper in the Camry. The old Alpine works perfectly, just taking up space in my garage!!
