4th Generation 2000 Camry-speaker wire install help

Hi folks:

There is already wiring in my 2000 Camry for a 3-channel amp (amp is yet to be installed) in the trunk of my 2000 Camry CE.

I need to run speaker wires from the amp in the trunk back to the front door speakers. I've Googled a whole lot, but can't find any HOWTOs or project logs on how/where exactly to run such wires. Since I am a serious newbie at this part of the game, I was wondering if anyone can point me to such a HOWTO or project log, or even just some photos.

Thanks in advance.

Philippe

just run them under your door sills, up into the kick panels and through the grommets into the doors

MrSo)h0o:

Thanks for that.

So, speaking from complete ignorance..(brace yourself)

I don't need to remove the rear seats or anything? If I don't, do I just run the speaker wires under the rear seats or how does that work?

Why into the front kick panel? This seems like a circuitous route, but I'm assuming it has to be run through there because there's no shorter way to run it into the front door?

How important is securely fastening down speaker wires?

Do kick panels on 2000 Camry come off with just gentle prying? What about Sills?

Know of any pictures of this on the web that might help me out? Again, mostly total newbie here, to cars as well as car stereo.

Thanks.

Philippe

when you remove the door sills and kick panels(all they take is a taped up screwdriver) there will be rails where pre-existing wiring is run. you will be able to run your wire within the railing. These are the only photos i have of my install.. This is a 2005 camry FYI

Do like MrSo0h0o did. Just run the wires under those plastic covers. I just pulled those covers off with my bare hands though. Those pieces tend to overlap so you might need to take them out in a certain order.

I used zip-ties to secure the wires to the factory wiring loosely but that is optional.

The easiest way to get wires into the door that I have found is to find all the wires that go into the car from teh door. There is connector in that area where all the wires going into the door can be disconnected from the rest of the car. There should only be one or two connectors. Disconnect this, and then you can push the wires along with the rubber holder out of the car so that everything just hangs outside. Then go into the door and push the other side of the rubber holder out but leaving the wires inside the door. This will allow you to feed the wires through the rubber holder while it's straight. No need for fishing with wire hangers and such.
