speaker/deck question in my 1995 camry xle v6

okay i am calling car people to have my old ststem put into my new car, and a few problems arised.

1) they said itd be best just to buy a new amp kit seeing as how theyre made out of copper and copper oxodizes, and that because my system was in my car for 6-10 months itd be best to buy a new kit...true/false?

2) i have the cassette and cd player in my car. and its a 6 speaker sound system, the installer guys said that if my speakers are bose, theyt might come with an amplifier in them and if my aftermarket deck has an amplifier (which it obviously does) it could ruin something. is that true? and does my speakers have amps or whatever? doesnt just the radio have the amp? and i'd be taking that out so that shouldnt matter..correct?

3) the six speakers are two on the door, and 2 in the very back, and 2 near the switches to put up your windows and lock the doors. what should i be buying to get new speakers all around? 6x9's in the back, and then a componet system for the front, and just replace the tweeter with the aftermarket tweeter? correct? is it possible just to get 6x9's in the back and like 6x5's in the front, and leave the stock tweeters in there?

1. I don't think 10 months is a long time for power cables to go bad, I have spools of 4gauge that have been on the roll for 2 years now, I think you can re-use it.

2. Lots of factory systems have factory amps, not at the radio, but inine in the car elsewhere. Amps expect a signal level input, not the signal provided by the new decks "amplified" speaker connections. The new deck should have rca low level output, you would need to get these to the existing amp if you were expecting to us it. The existing amp is probally not a good one, you should just replace the amp as well.

3. The two speakers in each door act as a single channel of a component system, the tweeter is in the handle, the mid driver is in the lower speaker mount. You say buy a component system for the front, so you would get both a driver and a new tweeter in the component set, leaving a set of 6x9's for the rear. So you would just need a component set, and a 6x9. You're going to need a amp to drive a component system, so you can just get a decent 4 channel amp, have this amp replace the one that was in the factory install.

New Deck, New Amp, New Speakers. When the old deck comes out, most installers are just going to leave the old amp in the car where it is, and leave the stock speaker wires running from the amp to the stock speakers, new wires will be run from the new amp to the new speakers in the old locations, doing it this way, you can just "plug in" all the old hardware when you get a new car. Cutting all the existing wiring makes a mess.

1) I assume you're talking about an amp kit for your sub(s)? I think they're just wanting to sell you some extra stuff. No reason you shouldn't be able to re-use it after only 10 months.

2)'95 XLE system has the amp under the front passenger seat. When you put an aftermarket HU in, you bypass that amp. Fortunately, Toyota put an extra set of wiring harnesses in just for that purpose. Those harnesses are tucked away in the dash behind the stock stereo. Disconnect the harness from the factory HU and tuck it away, then find the two "hidden" harnesses to plug into the new HU. Get adapter harnesses like you would get from Crutchfield or Best Buy, etc., to connect the new HU to the factory harnesses so you don't have to cut the factory harnesses.

This link should help you with the connectors...

3) Yes, you can put aftermarket 6X9s in the rear deck. The factory 6X9s have a unique mounting pattern though, so you'll need to buy or fabricate some adapter templates to have aftemarket 6X9s fit. I bought adapters like these from eBay...

With the door speakers, there's a single cone full range speaker in the lower door, and a tweeter in the door handle. They didn't wire it like a component system though, they just wired the tweeter in line with the full range with a high pass line filter before the tweeter. If you want to use the factory wiring and the amp from your HU, you can just put a pair of coax in the lower door and a new pair of tweeters in the door handles. If you want to put in a component system, you'll have to use an external amp (HU amp lacks power) and you'll need rewire.
