what size wire from amp to ground?

the question above. should the ground wire for the amp be the same as my power wire (4g)?

Your ground wire should always be the same size or bigger than your power wire. You should also upgrade the wiring from your negative terminal on your battery, the wire on the alternator and the ground to your engine to the same size as the amp wire or bigger.
