4th Generation Tap 99 Camry PowerSeat power for lcd?

Anyone know of any problems I would face if I tapped out the 12v (I assume it's +12v) from the powerseat wiring on a 99 Camry XLE for a LCD + Genesis (2a max, ~1a lcd and .2a Genesis 3)?

I think you'll be ok, but remember that the power is constant and may not shut off automatically. Also you should not use the power seat at the same time because it might blow the fuse.

Have you considered using one of those add-a-fuse things?

Constant power is a plus. I don't want to need to have the car on or on accessory to power it (I'm planning to install it onto the back of the passenger headrest). I will place a manual power switch on the tap since the lcd has no power switch of it's own.

And add-a-fuse thing? Do you mean one of those things that you take out an existing fuse, put it where that fuse when, and then put the original fuse in it while a second fuse goes off to somewhere else? (Like http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...number=071-580 ?) Wouldn't that require me to rip off the carpets to run a new cable towards the seats? Or do you mean an inline fuse on the already existing power seat wires?

I already have one of the former kicking around somewhere in my boxs o' crap™ but I rather not use that because of the previously mentioned carpet tearing upping. I don't want to have any visible wires, even under the removable carpeting. Don't want to risk someone pulling on the wire and something breaking. And I got plenty of the later. In fact, I have around 200 heavy duty panel mounted fuse holders I'll be ebaying off soon (unless someone here wants, natch).

quick question, is the lcd just a video display? or a vga monitor? I ask because if its a vga monitor (for a carputer for instance), the seat power source is probally too noisy and you should get your 12volts from a stabilized 12volt rail from the carputer psu.

It's just a lcd screen, with composite in. I think it has options for s-video and maybe even rgb, but the pinout cable is otherwise empty except for composite+ground. I tried contacting the manufacturer, and the chip manufacturer, but neither responded. Its going to be used as a lcd for a genesis, and maybe later on for a thinclient with scan converter chip to make the thinclient's vga -> 640 x 480 composite for the lcd. But I will run a cable for that thinclient later, if it works.

That is the part I am talking about. It wouldn't be difficult to run wire to the front seats. You don't have to take any carpet off. Those plastic side pieces come out fairly easily.
