Replacing factory speakers for aftermarket 06 Corolla

Just wondering if they are 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" in the fronts and 6x9 in the rear?

Any speakers to stay away from that might be too thick to not fit in the doors. Not sure about the rear speakers but normally clearance isn't on many cars.

I'm thinking of some Alpine Type S or R for the front and rears. Maybe a JVC or Kenwood headunit. I would go for an Alpine but the RMS wattage seems low. Whats a decent combo?

I don't know about what speakers would fit, but you could try crutchfield.com. You enter in the car you have and it tels you what will fit.

I have 4 alpine type-r's in my camry and I really like them. The 6x9's in the back put out a lot of base if you don't plan on getting a sub. The 61/2's sound great in the front, but I wish I went with a component setup, too late now. I found my speakers real cheap on amazon btw.

For head units, the RMS will never be that high (anything over 20 watts per channel on a head unit is either the peak power or a complete lie). Also don't expect amazing quality if you don't get an amp. (still leaps and bounds better than stock though) A small 4 channel amp will make a big difference for not too much. I would worry about features more than the power, and keep in mind any future upgrades you might do. RCA outputs for amps, eq's, separate RCA's for the subs, etc. Another very important part of choosing an hu is usability. When your picking one out just imagine trying to use it while your driving, and get one that is easy to use. Good luck man, and tell us what you end up getting

Oh, I know about having an amp. I just don't want to deal with that. Just something to plug and play. With my previous vehicle I had an original punch 400 and running my 2 - 6.5" and 6"x9" Infinity Kappa Perfects at 4 x 100. It sounded amazing with my Alpine headunit (has no cheesy 50x4 built in amp). But thats history now.

Thanks for the help, I might just go with some Alpine Type R's. Wonder what head unit to get that'll match nicely inside. Any photos?

Oh ok, you know more about audio than I assumed. Well if you don't plan on upgrading to an amp than I would seriously consider the type-s's instead of the type-r's. Their sensitivity is substantially higher(92 instead of 89), so they would make the most out of the hu power. The type-s's are really shallow as well, so there shouldn't be any problems with depth. They should be close in SQ too. I really like my alpine cda-9883, and I mostly use it with my ipod. I have no experience with any of the other hu's you mentioned. Good Luck.
