Is it okay to ground the capacitor in the same spot that the amp is grounded?

I don't see why that would be a problem. No matter where you connect it, electrically speaking, they will all be connected anyhow.

When using a cap, your suposed to ground the amp to the cap.

I think I follow you on this one....flow with me on this:

1. power cable from battery to + on cap
2. + connection from cap to amp
3. - from amp to cap
4. - from cap to ground

It is a 2 farad cap with 4 connections. 2 + and 2 -.

I also know I need to charge the cap first. Its a damn good thing I researched that before messing with it because it didnt come with any install instructions.

your steps are perfect, iom not sure how you charge the cap i forget that. im usre you can find a tutorial on yahoo or google

I hooked it up last night.

To charge it, hook everything up, take the fuse out of the block that runs from your battery. In the fuse's place, insert a resistor (caps usually come with a little light bulb to use as a resistor)....

Place resistor where the fuse went, turn everything on and wait about 10 seconds.

Turn everything off, take out resistor, replace with fuse and you are good to go.
