Highlander stock HU ???
Hello all. I have a 2002 Highlander with the regular 3 in 1 non-JBL audio system. I would like to install a JBL 6 disc headunit from a premium equipped Highlander or a different Toyota model that has the 6 disc option. Also, I would like to use an aftermarket amplifier. Is there a way to do this? I've done a ton of searching and most of my questions have been answered, but not all.
I understand that the amplifier in the premium equipped models is what powers the HU, but that shouldn't be too difficult to figure out and rewire the HU with a constant +12v, ignition +12v and a ground.
The next question would be the remote turn on for the aftermarket amplifier. If the factory amplifier powers the factory HU, there must be some sort of trigger from the HU to tell the amp to send power to the HU...this I read was digital on some models, and analog on others. Does anyone know which is which?
And the final piece of the puzzle, the preamp outputs on the factory HU??? Are there any aftermarket harnesses available that would do what I need here? Does anyone have any ideas as to how to do what I want to do here?
