sub without preouts

Hello,

I'm trying to wire up a single sub to my car audio system. I currently have an aftermarket sony HU, 4 amped outs but no preouts. only 2 front 2 back. I was wondering if there is anyway I can power an amp with this setup as well? are there amps that take amped signals already or can I splice it somewhere?

thanks!

Yeah, there are many amps that will accept speaker level inputs or you could use a hi to low convertor which converts your speaker level outputs from the hu down to preamp level for the amp input. Either way, the sound quality is no where near what a hu with pre-outs would be capable of. My suggestion would be to swap out the hu to something that has pre-outs and an amp to along with it. It'll sound much better. Also, it doesn't sound like you're planning on using a crossover so make sure your amp has one built in so you only send bass to the sub...again, it'll sound better that way.

u can split the signal using y-RCA's to a dedicated 'sub'(mono) amp.

Yeah, I dont think I'll spend that much, I'll convert my speaker outs to line outs and bridge the amp. Its not worth so much for a 60 dollar system in my 88 camry =) I love my HU with the bluetooth streaming and mp3 capabilities
