how to get a cd un-stuck from a facotry cd player?

the cd player in my friend's 1993 celica convertible won't eject the cd. when she pushed the eject button, all it does it light up the EJECT light and make noise like it's trying to spit it out.

has anybody here dealt with this before? will it be possible to get the cd out, or is the head unit just broken? it's 10 years old, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's just broken, but at the same time, she would like to change out cds and not have to put a new stereo into a car that she most likely won't keep too much longer...

You can still get the CD out manually. Take the CD player out and remove the top cover. Then do your best to take the CD out. You may have to find some sort of release lever to slide the CD out eventually.

You could've taken the entire CD assembly out as well. You don't need A+ certification in electronics to take a CD out, just common sense.

hmm....so far it looks like the only way to do this is to remove the cd player, which looks like it involves a lot of work on a dashboard i don't know.... a lot of work just to get out a cd, and then it still won't work for the future. if it came to that i think my friend would rather just cut her losses and leave it in there

i was hoping there was some sort of fuse or something that i could check, or secret trick of pushing buttons or something. oh well, thanks for your help guys

disconnect battery

This happened to me and all I did was disconnecting the battery for about 30 seconds. That usually resets the stereo to factory defaults (you will loose all radio presets). This finally ejected my CD.
Give it a try.
