How many amps does the echo alt. produce? A second battery will only help while the cars off, and a caps help is debatable. If its a problem the only real choices are the big three or a h.o. alternator. It will also depend on how hard you will drive them. If its on the line of being a problem then put them in first, and only deal with it if you are low on power.
Pretty sure you would be fine unless yota put in a really weak alt. which I doubt, my stock battery can run 800-1200 W RMS no problems, then again I rarely find the need to play that for longer than a couple minutes as it gets ridiculously annoying unless you want to have a party outside or like a camping place :-) still volume rarely goes over 25-30 range lol
its always smart to add a cap anyway, why put the extra strain on the stock electrical system if you don't have to
A cap puts more strain on on the electrical system. One more component which adds resistance and makes the alt work harder. Caps are to fix a particular problem, not just a general upgrade. Caps will help with alternator lag, and with uneven output from the alternator. If the system is underpowered the capacitor will make the problem worse.

X2,waste of money.

What! where did you read that? please show me where its written i would love to see it. i would be willing to bet that an echo alt even with the big 3 done to it stiil wont push the amps needed to run the car and the system the way it should be. After all my years of installing i never once had a system where a cap either didnt help or made the electrical system worse. I would agree with him uping the alt output first and a big 3 if he can afford it but until then the the big 3 and the cap should be fine for now.

Look at some hi-powered or hi-end systems,u wont see a cap nowhere.Maybe in show cars u might see them b/c the companies that make them have stepped up the 'bling' factor so they look all shiny & lightup.Anyways I used one at one time and it did nothing for me.We can go on til we're blue in the face, but does anyone really know?.....Here's a discussion over at DIYM.....http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...ght=capacitors

The idea of Caps and BIG3 and Performance batteries has been talked about a lot here on TN. If you folks did a little searching you'd find tons of posts. From the most relevent and trusted thread here, one can derive this link, http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/sh...ad.php?t=17970 , which clearly details (with measured data) the arguements for or against a cap. Give it a read, and if you still decide you want one, go right ahead.

Here is a good writeup of why you don't need one. Caps are not a "solve all" and I'm tiered of people suggesting them just for the hell of it.
To the OP, put in the amps, then you will be able to see if your electrical system is up to the job. It will probably depend a lot on how hard you push them. Also, the big 3 is an upgrade that WILL help.
Edit: I didn't read the link from the post before mine before I posted this, and it was the same article that I posted. I'm going to leave the link because that site is in general a very good read if your getting into car audio.
