PA15TOY ipod adapter acting weird

just bought a new tacoma a few weeks ago..2008 access cab (base model, manual windows etc..) with a single disc cd player. i just installed the USA spec ipod adapter and it went well..but it just started acting weird after i plugged the ipod chord into my ipod. i know it says to wait 25 seconds for it to get to the direct mode screen..but it took alot longer then that and also, everytime i hit the "change cd" button to CD8 (so i can use the ipod direct) it makes me wait another 25+ seconds. sometimes the ipod direct doesnt even show up, and it takes a long long time for my ipod to go back to its original screen as it feels like its about to freeze. not sure if its my ipod (i have the 6th gen ipod classic, firm 1.1.1). also..it keeps going thru the same 3 tracks each time i plug it back in playing the first 2 secs of the first song and then going to the next..and they were songs that i had not listened to before i plugged it in. sorry if it sounds confusing..its just starting to frustrate me!! has anyone had a similar problem? i need help!! pleaseeeeeeeee!

I too have a similar problem, even though it is a 2000 Camry.
I have tried the following to get to the direct mode with no consistent success. In all cases I stopped listening to what I was before and put on the pause button
a) plugged the unit and then turned on the motor and the changer
b) had the motor running and the changer on and then plugged in the unit
In both cases, the changer did not go directly to CD8 (where I had left it) but had to be toggled there. Once it got there, it went through the same thing you indicated.
I have searched on the net for advice as to how to get directly to the Direct mode so that I control the Ipod and not the unit.
No success for online advice.
Have you tried calling USA-Spec?
