I'm wondering where the stock amp is located that came with the so-called "premium" sound system. Any information on how to locate and remove would be greatly appreciated.

The most common place for stock amps is under the passenger (or driver) seat. If not there, there's a possibility it is in your dash, trunk etc.

Okay, so you're saying that it's bound to be hidden somewhere in the car. I know it's not in the trunk, under the seats, or behind the glovebox, unless it's hiding somewhere above the heater core...but thanks guys.

Can't say its the same but in my '97xle the amp was located behind the passenger side kick panel and up a bit.

Since you have a Gen4, as long as you have the OEM premium system, the OEM amp is behind the glovebox. For Gen3, it was under the front passenger seat.
