any body have one of these how do you like it i have a chance to buy one cheap with the optional bluetooth and ipod conn any input on this system app ,any idea what dash conv kit is worth
Yes it is a good unit, I do not have one but I researched them extensively bc I was going to purchase one, The thing you should know is they have been discontinued due to pioneer coming out with newer models. But If I had the chance to scoop one up cheap I definitely would!
A scosche dash kit will run you about $25 shipped on ebay.
Pioneer head units are good. As long as it has the features you want, the quality won't disappoint.

What is the cheap price?
The unit is pretty sweet. If you have an ipod, the experience will be even better.
I have an Avic-z1, and the bluetooth unit is inferior compared to some other units, but if you are getting all of that for a cheap price than go for it.
By the way the Z1 and D3 may be using a different bluetooth connector. Z1 uses an NDBT-1.
I had the D3 installed in my 07 and loved it. The Sirius, Nav, IPOD, Backup Cam, and bluetooth all worked flawlessly. The UI is very user friendly and easy to get used to. If you have the opportunity to get one cheap (though retail is already pretty low for what you get) jump on it! If not, let me know and I'll buy it since some jackass recently stole mine!!

I just installed a lower end model Avh-P4100DVD with a video bypass chip and the ipod cable and i love it!!! its so smooth with a fast touch response time.
I've heard the Avic have some multitasking issues that the software update didnt fully fix, but I know a brand new one just came out that I'm sure is better.
having installed quite a few of these units.... here is my personal review:
The unit installs easily, pretty standard as the rest.
The navigation is just ok compared to other systems. The need for the Map Disc can be an issue over time (having to insert it every time you want o set a destination, then remove for CD or DVD play back. Scratching the disc and having troubles with it being read, or just plain losing it.)
The construction of the unit is not the quality of the Z series, or other brand's units. the Volume knob feels very "Cheap" like it would be easy to break. the slot load disc as opposed to the fold down face make it more susceptible to dirt.
But all this aside if you are looking for a budget minded DDin Nav system the D3 is hard to beat. and at the right price it will be worth it.
One last thing, be very careful buying a used unit as there will be no warranty through Pioneer if there are any problems.
Good luck though, hope it is a good unit.
