Thumbs down found out info on cd player

I called alpine1 and they informed me that my alpine 7802 is a 91 model alpine. They said I would have to pay someone to take it out, only they(alpine could fix it) and that they would charge me $95 bucks to repair. how would they know how much to charge when they don't even know whats wrong with it. i called a car stereo place here in fresno and they said $35 to take it out plus free quote as to how much denaros it would take to repair it. I think the butt that sold me the car unhooked it because he took his back speakers out and did not or could not rewire to front speakers ! There are wires inside 2 white ones and one red connection inside behind asstray, then one under drivers seat and one coming out from under stereo and gear panel and then 2 loose white wires in the trunk that were probably connected to the back speakers. So, he definately did a little tweeking! Any one out there with any suggestions as to what would be the best road to go down, sure would be appreciated! or if anyone has owned an alpine older cd unit like a 7802 or 7813. I beleive it would play if hooked up right.

Find yourself a friend to do it for you. It's not hard and should not cost that much. I'd do it for a 30 rack or a nice dinner or something if I lived near you.

How about just removing your defective alpine deck and just swap with a new alpine unit?
I figure it would be more cost-beneficial in the long-run, b/c you really don't know for sure what is wrong with your current deck.

^^ Agreed. Don't waste any time with a 12yr old player. Replace factory radio with a new cd radio and have the installers figure out the loose wires. Lots of good stuff out there today.

Talking

many thanx for all your replies. sounds like a good idea. I found a place her in fresno that will give me a quote on what he thinks once he takes a look at all of it. so i am thinking about going by just to see what he says, but.... the advise you guys gave sounds like my best bet since it its a 91 cd player. and no telling what is wrong with it or if it even works. anyone out there know what the most resonably priced cd player that has pretty good sound will cost? Not alot of money to spend on an expensive unit. So, if anyone has heard of a good unit low priced with decent sound, let me know again, thankx

$199 at crutchfield. may be able to find it for cheaper.

$149 at crutchfield. panasonic is above avg. brand, but not as good as kenwood.

check out www.crutchfield.com for a great inventory of decks. But, b/c you want to make sure that your cd deck plays b/c of possiblity of loose wires, I would probably purchase the deck at a local audio shop and get them to install it for you.

ebay... just buy from a power seller with over 95% rating..
good brands to buy online at good prices: clarion, kenwoon, pioneer, panasonic... jvc is ok but you're better off with one of the above.
