i finally put my fosgate power t2 in the car. damn is it loud.
ive got an 1100w amp powering it at rms, so the amp is turned almost all the way up.
i also have a 400w amp powering my sony speakers.
when i turn the volume up loud enough the bigger amplifier starts to steal power away from the smaller amp when the bass hits.
ive got seperate rca cables, power, and ground wires for each amp.
messed with the gains and frequencies, and i still cant get it to quit.
when the bass hits on a deeper note, all the treble disapears.
sounds a little weird but thats basically what happens.
i turned the gains down on both of them.
my friend actually sat out at my car and tuned them for me the first time while i was working, so when he said he turned it all the way up, i thought he meant he turned it up to power at rms, but no that dumbass didnt.
but i fixed it.
ok it seems like you are talking about peak power when you say an 1100w sub amp and a 400w speaker amp... give us the real specs on your equipment so we can help you better..
what it sounds like to me is clipping. Your electrical system cannot hold the load you are putting on it.
ok my bad
let me start over.
i put a 2000w subwoofer in the car with an 1100 watt amp powering it. the subs rms is 1000w, which it was powered close to that. i just turned the gain on the amp down so its not at around 1000w anymore.
i have another 400w amp powering my speakers. the gain on that is about half way up at the moment.
what would happen is when the subwoofer would hit deep enough bass it would cut out all the treble coming from the speakers.
its alright now since i turned the gain on the sub amp down.
it was clipping, i was just surprised by it because i have never had a problem with clipping before.
what happened was i was working at my work place, mcdonalds sadly, and my friend stopped by and decided he wanted to tune my amps to hit harder while i was working. he said that the sub amp was turned up all the way when he got done, and by that i thought he meant that it was hitting at rms and he wasnt gonna go any higher. but that wasnt what he meant. the gain was really turned up all the way.
but like i said, i turned them down and its fixed.
