Hey, I have a toyota pickup xtra cab and want to get a single 12" sub. I was thinking about the type-r 12" 1224d and run it in 2 ohms. What amp and what size (cu. ft.) box should I get?
I was looking at these two. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

More headroom for this type-r or do you mean a different sub? .57 - 1 cu. ft. is a wide spec, I've read .85 cu. ft. is good just looking to confirm that.

Just got some funds and planning to buy a.s.a.p. I've found a new sub and new pre-built sealed 1.25ci enclosure. I'm looking for a used m850 amp online. What guage power wire and what amperage fuse should I use? I have no idea how my alt and battery will cope with this setup but I will try to help it with the "big 3" when I pull the starter for the starter contacts hopefully in the near future.
I've added a 4GA wiring kit to my list and am just waiting on the amp. I know subs can be abused so that's why I went with a new one but what about used amps? Is it safe to buy a used amp?

I wouldn't buy a used amp. You never know if it was installed correctly, if ever overheated, etc. If you are on a budget check out Memphis amps. I used one to push two rockford powerclass 15's and never had any problems.
Here is a link to a one channel amp from them. It's only 600w @ 2 ohms. Should be plenty for that one 12 though, and it's new.
That enclosure is bigger then the recommended .5-1.0 cubic foot recommendation. Your best bet is to build you own or if that's not possible, I'm sure a local car audio shop can build you a box for fairly cheap.
I don't mind building it. How do I know what size to build it. .5-1 cu. ft. is a wide range. All I need is 3/4" mdf from home depot, wood screws, and one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/Subwoofer-Speake...1%7C240%3A1318 Is there anything missing?

You will also want to get some silicone to seal up all the seems. This will help make the box air tight. Some 3m spray adhesive and some speaker box carpet to make it look professional. Check out this link it well help you figure out the demisions you need to acheive the required cubic footage. I would go with about .75 cubic feet. The closer to 1.0 the more lower end bass notes will be dominant and the closer to .5 the higher bass notes will be dominant. .75 will put you right in the middle according to the recommendation. Though depending on the music you listen to, the more you might lean one way or another. ex. rap tends to have lower bass notes as opposed to rock with the highr bass notes. Hope this helps.
