i've been told that i need a new amp, although the current amp i have it good, but it turns off once it gets too hot. When it does this my subs smell like they have been on fire and i hate that smell, is there any way to get rid of that? after the subs have been playign fro a while?
i would check your wiring. you may be running your amp with too low of a resistance. Find out the config of your sub and the full specs on your amp.
Also, what KooL means is that is there proper ventilation for the amp. ie: is the fans(if any) blocked by anything.
I would also make sure your gain is not turned up too much. If you have the gain up too high, not only will you get clipping, but this will heat the amp up like you describe.
The smell from your sub may be your voice coils burning up, leading me to believe it could be a wiring issue or you are just overrunning the amp.
SooHoo you seem to kno your wiring, i has a shop do a quick install, so they wired it up, ASG14 dislike they way tehy set it up i dislike it as well, but not i basically have all the wiring to mess around with so i wont be going over there for wiring maybe for parts but not for audio crap anymore, but your going to the MEET on the 18th if it possible you can give my setup a look over i'll appreciate adn and Kool i'll take a pic of the setup tomorrow since now its late, and i dont believe the fans of the amp are being blocked my anthing
