Unhappy no bass

I just installed a pair of 6x9 pioneer speakers on the parcel shelf in my 1990 camry and they have nearly no bass. Does any any one have any suggestions why?

I have a VDOdayton headunit and xplod speakers in the front which have good bass. I hooked the 6x9's up using the stock wire from the pre-existing speakers which i removed.

Any help would be appreciated...

This may or may not apply, but I installed a pair of 3-way pioneer speakers in one of the family's cars and noticed that it had fairly lack of bass when compared with the JBL powers in my camry. That may just be the way pioneer speakers are, as are other manufacturers.
Generally, JBL speakers are more richer in sound. Cerwin Vega are more bassier in sound, etc.

If you haven't already, try tweaking the EQ settings on your head unit. It may just be as simple as that and hopefully not your speakers.
If your xplod's have pretty punchy bass then it probably isn't a problem with inadequate watts getting to your pioneers.

You don't have the polarity mixed up on the speakers do you? They have to be wired the same or when one speaker goes up the other goes down. Don't get much bass that way.

i have no amp, and yeah the problem was that i had the polarities reversed on one speaker. That fixed it, and i also lowered the bass frequency on the head unit. The bass sounds good now.

Thanks for your replies
