help me find a deck in my price range

ok im looking to spend less than 150 dollars on a deck.
I want something that is a good value.

It MUST be flip down, do cd text, and have a removable faceplate.

It would be nice if it had a remote, or played mp3s (not a priority).

i was looking at the Panasonic CQ-DF583U because it is cheap (150 shipped on ebay) for an mp3 player, and has a fair amount of functions.

any opinions appreciated

That's a good value head unit.
Panasonic is a good brand, not quite the alpine or kenwood, but nonetheless, pretty solid; especially when compared to sony.
I'm not sure if crutchfield still is offering a $20 rebate on their panasonic units, but you might wanna check.

In that price range, you'll be very hard-pressed to find a good, reputable brand with the features you're looking for (mainly mp3 playback).

im driving a 89 celica gt.

it doenst have to have mp3 capability, but it would be a definate plus. Yea, I want something from a reputable company, not like pyle or audiovox(no offense).

i like the look of the jvc players the JVC KD-SX990 is about the same price as the panasonic one on ebay. I like the lcd more, but the face looks a bit cluttered and the remote seems useless.

Pyle aint that bad it actually is ok headunit. And pyle had a name many years ago. But i say save $70 dollars more and get a unit for $220. There is more variety and quality in this price range.

kenwood mp522 is $150 before S&H on ebay so if you're willing to spend just a little more...

kenwood decks are better than panasonic, although panasonic decks look nicer. Its hard to find decks with text for under 150. My suggestion is to get the cheapest alpine deck that supports text. To me, Alpine makes the best decks hands down (except maybe nakamichi for sound quality)

what about eclipse?

I've never heard eclipse or nakamichi decks myself, but they're argued to have better SQ than Alpine.

Eclipse's sound quality is good, partially because it has 5-8 volt outputs. Its also really expensive to buy eclipse decks, so I would rather save the 100 bucks and get an alpine which is just as good. And for nakamichi....anything they make is good. haha
