I would imagine that to be a little harmful to the subs. Space saving? Not reallly, it doesnt save you more space than any other setup. If you were really concerned about space, get a slim line.

There is also a free air setup, basically it doesnt require the air movement and enclosure that normal subs need. You literally put the subs upside down.

BigLou, i remember your IB setup against the rear seats. how come u took that out? it looked great and you had a pair of 12's in there?

ive been thinkin about gettin that molded corner box like u have now, but i just have a problem of paying hundreds of dollars for a sub box (with no woofer included).

how does ur new box sound? do u find that a lot of bass stays trapped in the trunk? thats my fear if i go with that kind of box.

That setup was in a '02 Camry which I traded in for the '08 I have now.The subs were 12'' EHQS from Elemental Design. I sold some stuff I had around the garage to fund the FG enclosure u see.The sub is only seeing 350w ,more than enough b/c the rest of the system is stock.I just needed some omf in my music & the sub blends in pretty nicely considering I have no processing at all.I actually like the sound stage of the stock system. The only gripe is when turned up it runs out of gas, especially the bass it litereally disappears.I'm assuming it's made this way in order to protect the speakers from blowing. As far as the bass goes I know from experience some of the sound waves do get trapped mainly b/c of the rear speakers.I occasionally have rear passengers so the speakers are staying.I just soundeadened the trunk area(with exception of the rear deck) over the weekend and it really makes a difference. My next upgrade will be the HU(Dble. Din A/V-Nav.) & front speakers, rears will stay stock.

Once you get your new HU, you wont have a problem with the bass cutting out when you turn it up. Its the circuitry of the OEM HU, to protect the OEM speakers. I had the same problem until I installed my Alpine HU.

How does your current setup compare to your previous IB one? Its probably not a fair comparison, being that it's 1 sub vs a pair. But which setup gave the better SQ?

The two 12's got louder than my present but not by much I would say.The eD subs($25 a piece when purchased) were very efficient ,upper to lower bass was reproduced quite nicely. Now with the cornerloaded enclosure vs. the MDF enclosure output is the same to my ears.
