Gen3 door speakers question

About how much clearance do the stock speakers have from the stock grilles? I ordered some Polk/Momo MMC650s and noticed their tweeters stick out a little far. It looks like they may need up to an inch clearance, will this be a problem?

Hmm...I can't give you an exact answer, but I can tell you that when I installed my JBL power 632's (they also have quite a bit of tweeter protrusion ~ 1/2 ") they fit just fine within the stock speaker grilles.
hope that helps.

Ok,that's a bit more comforting. I don't think the tweeters stick out a whole inch. And I know that I can top or bottom mount it for an extra 1/8" difference...

it should be good. i can't remember exactly how much clearance i had on mine when i put them in... but there should be enough room. the manufacturer, you would think, would not make any drastic differences in the sizing just for these exact reasons.

you may not be able to mount the speaker on the back side since you might have clearance issues with the door mechanisms inside the door.

I'm actually looking at Kicker RMB6s (they're midbass drivers) now... only 2" deep mounting. Only problem is I ordered the MMC650s already so I gotta sell them to someone, which isn't too bad since I'll make money on em anyway.
