Waste of Money?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-CAR...mZ280279626179

I'm looking for a reasonable priced h/u with touch screen navigation, mp3/ipod interface, backup camera inputs, but don't want to get hosed on a crappy product.

Recommendations? What are the best values out there as I want to spend under a grand...?

(oh, forgot to mention satellite radio compatible or ready or whatever would be great too)

That is a no no. Go with the Kenwood DNX5120. It uses Garmin's navigation system. Could be picked up for around $700.

Thanks guys. That's the kind of cut-to-the-chase info I need. Are there other brands that are comparable that I should be looking at, like Eclipse and Pioneer?

Also, is there a particular reseller that always has the lowest/near lowest prices that's reputable?

I spent over 2 months trying to locate the ideal product. By far the cheapest and best IMO was the kenwood DNX-5120. It was a full $300+ than its closest competitor, is Kenwood branded, and the navigation built in is a market leading package. A lot of the competitors require you have a data CD in the CD drive for the nav to work, the kenwood has a hard drive and can be updated via a one time use CD.

Best of all, it looks great.

Some stores will try to sell it to you for 900+, but through ebay you can locate new units for under 700.

EDIT: Kenwood and Garmin are named brands, both with international recognition.

Thanks. Actually I'm seeing $609 with free shipping for the Kenwood

http://cgi.ebay.com/N-E-W-KENWOOD-DNX5120-NAVIGATION-SYSTEM_W0QQitemZ120326358586QQcmdZViewItem?hash=it em120326358586&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|6 5%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

and $620.00 with extra shipping for the Eclipse

http://cgi.ebay.com/ECLIPSE-NEW-7-MO...d=p3286.c0.m14

is it worth the extra $ for the Eclipse or is the Kenwood superior?

id still go with the kenwood because the GPS is built in, doesnt require a CD be present, and is supported/supplied by garmin, the market leader in GPS.

edit: I looked up the navigation features on the other unit, it looks like ass compared to what my unit can display...the screenshot provided is from a very wide 30 mile top down view...I can zoom in until you basically see less than a mile across the entire screen, and the navigation itself is flawless. The voice commands over the front left speaker only is much appreciated too.

on looks of the overall unit alone the kenwood wins.

one last note, the eclipse does have a lot more features in the backend it appears, supporting 6 channels of audio, a sub output, and a motorized face. Not great improvement, id still get the kenwood though
