How do most people wire a dual-voice coil sub? Is it best to always use 2 amps for this type of subwoofer? Would it be hard to power a 1000w d.v. sub with one amp?
my DVC W3 is powered by one amp, since my amp is two channel its ran like that or i could have bridged it and ran series. 1st things 1st id go with a better head unit its the base of your system, Panasonic is good but id look to spend more than 150$
When looking for a receiver think about what you need and go from there that is how i narrowed my selection to my Premier that i have now and my other choice was a Panasonic. I dont understand the motorized face crap or other stuff like that which is really not necesary. Its one reason i dont like Alpine because you can adjust the face to like 4 different angles OOOOHHH and that just jacks the price up. I got better quality, more outputs, and MP3 play where as one of my friends who spent as much as me got an Alpine and got none of the options that i had, but he did get a motorized face.
I think their is a dood in the buy sell section with a great deal on some Audiobahn subs, i would buy some myself but i really have no need.
I think most brand name HUs are pretty much the same nowadays. It comes down to past experience and personal preference. I've only owned 2 HUs (Pioneer and Eclipse). The Pioneer was a bitch to scroll thorough for the menus. The Eclipse is nice, but you can get alot more for the same price. If I had to do it again know, I'd prolly give Alpine a look.
The thing you really need to look out for is the the number of pre-outs and inputs if you need to send aux signals. Otherwise, pick whatever you like in terms of style and ease of use.
One last tip...spend as much as you can on a decent HU and save the grief of having to upgrade. As a matter of fact that's true of all audio equipment.

go with what Phi said. i agree that all entry level HU's are pretty much the same. it's when you start getting over the $300 CAD mark that they start offering stuff more significant and specific.
i'd stick to the top 5 brand names and stay away from the lower ones like JVC, lower-end Kenwood (basically anything from FutureShop/BestBuy). and please do not get a Pyramid amp. i see those things all over in those liquidation stores right next to the pancake flippers. your HU is the brain and your amp is the heart of your system... make sure to spend some good money on them.
from what i've heard... Audiobahn's are pretty decent. sometimes the smaller companies put out good stuff since they are not massed produced at the same level as the bigger brands. but you usually have to pay more for their products.
good luck and have fun shopping for you new system.
