5701 vs 5901

Well after a long search I am finally in the market for a remote start. I only have to decide between the 5901 or 5701, basically I am sold on the 5701 but am a bit concerned with the distance (2000ft) to the (1 mile) of the 5901 (my parking lot for work is very big and far from my office.) Anyway does anyone have any experience with any of these two alarms/remote starts? Pros and cons please.
Also I want to add the window roll up and down function with the alarm and was told I need to get 2 or the DEI530T modules for all four windows is this true? And has anyone hooked up the defroster option on any of these systems, how is it done my installer said he hasn’t done any of them yet and since our defrost button operates the wiper and mirror defrost I am interested in this option as well. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated thanks
Jason

They really don't go that far due to the other obstructions in the way like other might block the signal so the farthest you can go is maybe 300 ft I have a Python 871XP on my 92 Cam so I should know, but if you do want to auto start from a distance go some place high with no walls in the way

I don't understand why you would not be able to power a defroster. All defrosters a controlled by a relay which is controlled by low current- I don;t understand what you mean by wiper, a rear window wiper goes on autmatically with the rear defroster?

The later model will effectively be half the range, if you're really bent on long range you could always try some sort of signal booster on the recivier.

Oh your lucky, I've actually used both models, one on a Gen6 Camry and one on a IS300. Ranges for the 5701 is fairly typical for most alarms and remote starts, it's good enough for typical errands, like starting your car from inside a grocery store or retail store. But the range on the 5901 is actually one of the best, it is going to be about twice the range or so. It does depend on the situations you would use the ranges, for one car, the walking distance is farther, hence me getting the 5901.

I didn't bother hooking up the defroster or anything like that, since if I leave the switch to be on or having the heater or wipers on prior to leave the car, once it is started, those electronic parts will actually turn on if the on switch is on, ie seat heaters and headlights and stuff.

You definitely would not get 1 mile in range unless it's absolutely unobstructed and there isn't much other radio frequencies in the area.

thanks for the reply the reason I wanted to have the defrost option installed is because on the 07-08 tundra the defrost button controls the mirror defrost and the heated wiper option but I don't think that if I leave the botton on it will be on when the truck is started, it is on a timer I believe
anyway thanks for the insight I think I will have to start looking into the 5901 because of the range my ofice is realy far from the parking lot
Any other people have experience with these two systems bad or good?, my installer said he has had some complaints about the 5701 going into 2nd car mode and people not knowing how to get it back to primary vehicle mode
