Gen6 sub power wire install

I just started to (or tried to) installing the power wire for my amp in the trunk (Camry Gen6, V6), but even after reading all related posts in the Gen5/6 forum and here... I can't a) find a way to get through the firewall (V6 engine is really cramped space) and b) can't get the door sills to pop off. I don't want to pull too hard on the sills in case their is a screw or plug (I have the OEM sill plates attached, done by Toyota with double sided tape, therefore can't see if their is a screw or plug to remove). Thanks for any advice.

as for the power wire, i would look from inside the car near the steering wheel column to find a hole through the firewall. keep your hood open so you can see sunlight come through any type of crack or hole. once there, all you have to do is locate it in the engine bay.

as for the door sills, just pry up. i know in the gen 5.5, they are held in by push clips.

make a new hole where there is room, just put a bushing in to protect the wire from sharp edges.

Thanks for the reply - yeah, I was laying in the car, under car, and had my head on the engine bay and their is just too much stuff that I can see any hole or want to take the risk and poke a new one in their and hitting something. I know it has been done 1000's times, should be a piece of cake ....just not for me.

I will give it another shot tomorrow morning. Hopefully I don't break the door sills either when I pry on them again (PS: I pulled them up a bit and did see the clip...hope this thing pops out and does not tear apart)

Sorry, another question to make sure - I assume grounding to any of the floor panels in the trunk is sufficient?...of course, after taking the paint off completely. I am thinking about the screw (10mm), which holds the little tray in place on the left side.

Yeah, you can put the ground on pretty much any metal part of the car. I used the bolt that holds down the side cushion of the rear seat. I suppose the seatbelt bolts could work too, but that's not something I want to mess with since it's a safety item.

I grounded under the rear passenger seatbelt bolt, after sanding to bare metal. I tightened it really really hard though, and I have had to remove it a few times since then, and it's tighter now then before I touched it. I primed over the whole thing to stop any rust.

I would just drill a new hole and install a grommet in there so it wouldn't cut the wire, but there has a to be a plug somewhere.

anywhere directly on the body of the car is fine, just make sure to remove all the paint and use a ring terminal.
