Pioneer

what do you guys think about the Pioneer DEH-P3000IB, its about all I can afford right now that is XM built in. Unless yall have some suggestions for me to maybe get something nicer, or even one of those large screens for the radio. Also what all am I going to have to buy to install the radio? If you don't mind posting some links for places to go to that would be great!!

That deck does not come with XM built in, I think you are mistaken. It is satellite radio ready - but that still means you have to make the deck recognize and control satellite radio.

You need the XM tuner as well as the pioneer. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ....do?oid=141395

No offense to the poster above me but that is a horrible deal. The 6700 model is over 3 years old now and you can get last years model (the 5900ib) for $130 or probably less now. I used to have the 5900, it has a graphical display, amazing ipod controls, satellite radio capabilities, ipod control (with that extra cable), and a ton of other stuff.

Look at them here on ebay, they're pretty cheap: http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=DEH...00UB&_osacat=0

Or you can get this years model, just without the matrix display for around the same price: http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_dmp...00iB&_osacat=0

Or you can get this years model, WITH the matrix display, for a little more: http://shop.ebay.com/items/_W0QQ_dmp...00UB&_osacat=0

All of these decks of course can be found on crutchfield and other sites as well so search around - I know crutchfield hooks you up with install parts pretty well though.

Pioneer makes great decks, I can't give you much more info on that particular model though.

Crutchfield is more expensive than other sites, but they have top notch customer service and supply the needed harness and dash kit plus instructions for free.

If you don't buy from them a standard harness is usually less than 20.00, unless you have an upgraded sound system from the factory. Depending on your car you may also need a dash kit.

I agree with MrGiggles, I don't give a damn how much or little it costs, you can't go wrong with a Pioneer...IMO. Every time I've strayed to different brands I regretted it.

Thanks y'all I ended up getting the Pioneer DEH-P5000IB because they didn't have the 3000 at Circuit City, I also got a Pioneer XM tuner and now all I have to do is go up to the Jimmy's and get them to get me a dash kit and they are going to install it. One question for anybody on here with a Tacoma, what do you think would look better on my '08 a black dash kit or silver?

You're the one that has to look at it every day, would you rather look at black or silver?

Great choice man, you won't be disappointed with your purchase. Pioneer makes great decks and you chose an awesome model. Personally I like it better than the 3000, it has the OEL display which will help you quite a bit since the deck will be sitting so high on your dash because it helps visibility when there's a lot of sun. If you're going to use your ipod with it you also won't be disappointed with those controls.

Yeah hopefully I can get it installed pretty soon. I'm excited to get it into my truck!

I don't know, for a Tacoma that's a lot of dashboard real estate to have silver in a bright sun, but then again I think it would still look better than a black kit. Tough call. Regardless of what you decide, post pictures when you get it in!

Well I can't see it making that big a difference because all I'm doing is replacing the part of the dash where my current radio is with the dashkit and since the part i'm replacing is silver, and teh rest of teh dash is black I figured it would probably look better, but as soon as I get everything installed I will take pics.
