The Toyota dealer wants $500 to install an alarm system into my gen4.5
it comes with a remote starter, but i think it's way to expensive..

It is, go to your local car audio shop and have them install one for you.

I just bought an APS 996A remote starter alarm with the 2 way pager type control from Ebay for $153.00 USD delivered. I am having it professionally installed with guarantee on install locally for $125.00. I checked with several car stereo shops first and they all quoted me around $375-400 for this same alarm if I bought it directly from them and had them install it. It may be a little more for your car because you may need an alarm bypass module, but you will still be cheaper than what the Toyota Stealer is asking. Just make sure you get a good installer who will stand behind their work.
