Installing a Clifford Alarm

Hi, my 2005 4Runner has the factory alarm, but I want to upgrade it to a Clifford unit. I'll be doing my own install, but my main concern is....do I have to uninstall the factory alarm first before I could wire in the Clifford? Is the factory just plugged in module?

You do not have to remove the factory alarm, just be sure that it is not activated by the locking of the doors, as it will cause the factory alarm to arm, but not necessarily disarm with unlock. (there is a way to fix this if it occurs.)

Thanks MHSD! Looks like my 4Runner never came with an alarm, just this keyless entry. And all this time I thought I had Toyota's basic alarm.
