Need help on building a sound system

Am pretty new at car audio and i have a few questions. I drive a 1999 Camry and everything is stock. I have some experience in installing a head unit but not subs and amps. I have been doing some research and i am thinking about buy a new headunit, 2 10inch subs, and a amp. The problem is i don't know what to look for in buying this stuff. sooo....What kind of head unit do i need? do i need one with two RCA preouts? or can i get away with just one RCA preout. Another question is what kind of amp do i need to power up 2 10inch sub. will i need a cap? any advice is welcome. Thanks

Ok, this may take a few posts and replies, but here we go...

First your Head unit. There are many options and features available these days. Everything from i-Pod, Satellite and HD radio... to some with 250 plus colors you can change the the face illumination to match the color of the rest of your dash. Built in Equalizers and Time alignment. Built in bluetooth connectivity Double Dins with Built in navigation and DVD.

Do you plan on upgrading the factory speakers? If so do you plan to amplify them? The reason I ask is you may want to consider buuying a single amp to control the entire system rather than two seperate amps alot of time you can save some cash this way in the end.

If not and you just want an amp to power the subs. What type(s) of music do you typically listen to? How much bass are you looking to get out of your system? this will help to determine what the best set-up and amp power you will need. somethign else to think about is how much room are you willing to give up in your trunk? what do you want the finished product to look like?

Thanks,
Bryan

hey thanks for the reply. Anyway i want just want a basic head unit with a aux input that can work with at least 2 subs and a amp. i am not planning on changing the stock speakers cause i like the sound of it and there's nothing wrong with them. however, i do plan to get speakers later on the road. i mostly listen to rap and hip hop. but i also listen to country or alternative music. i just want a system with a good sound and bass too it. i looked up some things already please give me comments.

Though these all seem like great deals.... couple of things to mention. One the warranty one the pioneer unit is ONLY 30 days this is not a good thing as pioneer offers a full 1yr factory warranty when bought from an authorized dealer or distributor. The savings may not be a saving at all if you have a problem after the first 30 days.

As for the Onlinecarstereo stuff, again though they do offer a 1 yr warranty I have seen numerous people have alot of problems getting things warrantied thru them to the point that they have given up called it a loss and bought elsewhere to get working products. (often times items come not working right out of the gate.)

That headunit only has one pair of pre-outs. If you plan on amping 4 speakers at some point with a sub you need 3 pairs. I like the subs and box for a budget system, but I'd look for a different headunit, and perhaps a more name brand amp if you can afford it.

Edit: In regards to what MHSD said, you may want to check out crutchfield.com. It may be a bit more expensive but its a large authorized dealer, and I'd have complete confidence in their support. They also send you the installation stuff you need and will talk you through any problems. I like new egg too, but for car audio crutchfield is less of a risk(but at a higher cost). If nothing else check out the user reviews of the stuff you want to buy on their site, because theirs tons of user reviews.
