2000 Camry XLE stereo question
I posted this in the Camry forum, didn't get much help at all, so I thought I'd put it in this forum:
I have a 2000 XLE with the JBL Premium Sound system, 6-disc changer, etc - I just replaced the double-DIN headunit with a Kenwood KDC-MT638U (I was getting sick of using a tape adapter for my Ipod, hehe).
I hooked up the two harnesses, bypassing the JBL amp, everything is working just as it should be; but the sound is MUCH "thinner" and seems to be pushed further to the rear speakers. It seems like the tweeters in the doors are softer, and I don't get near the bass that I'm used to. I understand the JBL speakers tended to be a little heavy on the bass, but I was used to it, I guess.
Anyway, my question is whether there is any way to use all 6 speakers? My Kenwood deck has a high pass filter, is that all I need to change? I've been playing around with the equalizer, and while I can adjust the sound a little bit, it doesn't sound anything like what it did with the Toyota headunit.
Or can I run the pre-amp outputs from the receiver to the amp? It's supposed to be behind the glove box, right? And how do I get back there?
UPDATE: I was driving tonight, listening to the stereo, and it sounded like it was missing the tweeter completely and there was basically no bass (no subwoofer output?). I'm really confused. Is there an amp integration harness or something that I need?
Thanks for any help.
