Front is a 3.5" full-range with an 4" midbass "plastic" driver in its own enclosure. Rear is 5.25" with square brace built-in to raise it up so to not interfere with the trunk release bars underneath.
An '88 Cam is a gen2 right? In my old '88LE I took those plastic moulded baffles out of there, made new mdf ones and fit 6.5's in the rear no problem.
The front are a bigger pain. I'd forget trying to replace them, build some kick panels instead. Or build some into the door panels. The stocks are just too small and difficult to get at to make it worth it. Just my opinion.
What ever you do, DONOT buy rockford's 3.5inch speakers!
Those things are crap! they sound good at first, but lemme tell ya, two weeks later they suck!
I was in the same situation as you, didnt want the trouble of kickpanels but wanted nonsucky speakers. bought the rockfords, and 2 weeks or so later, after some medium volumes, they were cracking and poping like nobody's buisness.
now I have kicker 6.5's in the doors and they rule.
Good thing I didn't already buy them then, ok if I mod the door panels to hold 6.5" shallow depth's what will i do to replace the front dash holes that have no speakers or carpeted speaker covers?
Maybe I could reroute some of the AC duct and put new ducts in to replace the holes, cool your feet or warm, either way...
Whoa.. just saw that you're in Pineville. I lived there for years, and now I live a few minutes down the road. used to live near carmel road/jonston road or hwy51.

I just left the stock speakers in there and didn't wire them in when putting in the new head unit. Ran new wire to the new speakers.
If you want to go in the doors, (where'd the kicks go? j/k)
consider a component set and try to mount the tweet up from the mid a bit. It will sound much better compared to a coax down low.
Hey... thats great... when I went to pineville elementary, we took a yearly feild trip to the police station, and now I go down mainstreet almost everytime I head to bestbuy
