Yeah, when you first get new speakers, dont go above 1/3rd volume, for a few hours, that is when you are in the greatest risk for blowing speakers, Also, I have noticed that speakers once they have some play under their belts, they sound a lot better.
When I first got my Kicker k693's and k65's they didnt have very much bass responce and the highs sounded harsh, but once they wore worn in alittle, all was great.
Think of it like a new pair of shoes, at first they might be stiff and maybe you get a blister, but once you wear them for a while, they becomce great!
