i heard my friends Mtx blue thunder 10", and a planet audio amp that is like 300watts. and it sounded pretty good for just one of them. im wondering if i get the 8000 2 12" 800watts each, would that pound better then Kicker compvr 2 12" 800watts.
thanks.
I don't know much that'll out do a CompVR, but MTX will sure give it a run for its money. My brother used to have 2 MTX 12's that sounded better than anybody's around. I don't remember what amp he had. If I had the money, I would get the VR's.
i can get the vr's for like $170- on ebay 2 of them,
anyone heard of the Hifonics Zeus HZ12 4ohm Sub 12" there also cheap on ebay, wanted to see if they really hit.
I heard the 8000 12" at circuit city and it sounded really good. My friend has a comp 12 (not sure if it is, but its probably the VR) and I was rather disappointed. Go for the MTX.
its ok for entry level stuff. the 9500 sub is supposed to be good but i havent heard anything about it since it came out. their higher end amps are alright too.
if u live in NY i can show u or tell u a spot 50% off retail retail price...my faullt i have terret...for example i was looking at a kenwood 1000watt mono amp...which was 300bucks in bestbuy, and then i went to this store and it cost 150 and no tax if u pay cash...
depending on how much money ur willing to spend... i really think kickers are out dated specially that they dont make it the way they used to...another company bought kicker company about 2yrs ago and now they put a cheaper kind of cone...
personally i'd go with the mtx, but if u can find an older kind of kicker go with that...
The Infinity Kappa 120.3se 12" and 120.3dvc 12" subs can both easily handle 1200 a piece. They are $149.99 and $159.99 respectively. Compared to the $249.99 800 watt MTX 8000. The only difference between the two is that the 120.3dvc has a dual voice coil and the 120.3se doesn't. Or you could even get the Reference 1230w for $99.99, it still handles 1200 watts but is made out of polypropylene instead of C.M.M.D. All have Infinity's huge magnet that provides ultimate power.
Originally posted by prophesized no infinity sub can handle 1200 watts. the size of a subs magnet does not dictate how good its. infinity's sub magnets arent that big anyway.
I've never know Crutchfield to false advertise before. Order the speakers and it's on the speakers too.
I think prophesized was referring to RMS. Personally Infinity subs are overpriced and don't have that great build quality. You could do much better. Most people who are deep into car audio ignore wattage figures and tend to forget that they even exist because they mean absolutely nothing to the point where it's stupid to even talk about it.
