Taking my factory stereo out.... FINALLY!

I finally found enough change in the sofa cushions to buy a new deck. Now I'm trying to figure out how to take out the factory stereo, the Double DIN with the cd/tape/radio. I'm gonna try to find out how to do this cleanly, rather than taking a flathead and prying it out. What's the easiest way to get to the screws holding in the old radio. Anyways, I figure I'm probably gonna need an aftermarket trim kit to fill the void left old stereo. Any ideas?

Nevermind, I actually found a useful sticky above this thread, but I still need ideas to fill the void that left after installing a single DIN stereo in a double DIN slot.

I was searching around, and the recommended site for removing the factory head unit in the sticky above has lost all of its pictures. Anyone else have know of a site with similar directions?

if you buy a deck from the audio store they should include/ have or recommend where you can get the harness for it. But most stores can even install it for you.
I actually got my stock deck out last friday. So much better. no more skipping tracks and waiting for cd-r's to load. And I got it on sale cause it was broke. But I fixed it and all is well. Hella happy with it. (Kenwood deck with a mechanized flip botton control pannel and tilt screen)

USA Install Kit for Double DIN 2004 4Runner

I want to replace my factory double din Toyota radio with a Pioneer FH-P5000MP double din unit in my 2004 4Runner. However, the length of the sides of the Pioneer unit are shorter. Does anyone know of any special install kits that will cover the gaps on the sides?

Thanks,
John

There should be a kit for most of the newer Toyotas, just go into any store and ask.
