i installed 6.5in and 6 by 9 in the back of my car... and after a high volume like half it gets distorted the sound quality... like it pisses me off what could be wrong? they handle 75rms in the front and 125 in the back..... the head unit does 54 by 4 (sony head unit)
i didnt change the speaker cables from headunit to speakers... i stripped the wires from old speakers and just put them together, u know?
Did you have a stock radio before the distortion? What is your bass set at? Speakers will distort at high volumes if you run them off the head unit. The best way to fix the problem is to turn down the bass. BTW, distortion will blow out your speakers.
the bass is set to lowest possible and it still distorts.... i changed the whole entire system at once, so i dont know how it sounded with stock radio before...... i dont understand what it COULD be? like i highly doubt its wired wrong, could it be a ground cable type thing?
like half way up... its starts to sound shitty, and its not that loud
the reason y im mad is that my friends honda accord has SUCH GOOD CLARITY thats its like WOOOW and he didnt upgrade his front speakers, only rear to infinity that do 300rms each =)
does your HU do 54watts RMS or max? If my hunch is right, your not giving enough power to your speakers thus the distortion. I suggest adding an amplifyer to your system. It would also be beneficial if the amplifyer has and Hi-Pass Filter so you can eliminate the extreme lows (i.e. cut off at 80Htz for your front and 60Htz for your rear).
my bad 52watts*4... the HU has a Hi-Pass filter and low, i turned them off because i wasnt sure at what htz to set them at, i put lightening audio speakers... spent 100$ on all 4 from best buy (good store, prob bad speakers) but if the max that the HU can send is 52 watts... and the speakers handle constantly at least 75 and 125watts, how can they distort?!!
distort because they're under powered... not enough power to move the speakers at high volumes.
try turning the HPF back on... you'll lose the bass but you'll probably cut the distortion as well. if you want to get the bass back, you'll have to install a sub.
i know the rms is 18 watts for the HU... but the speakers rms is 75 and 125... so it makes no sense for it to get distorted.... i have two subs, that hit HARD AS FUCK..... 1200watts RMS... some crazy shit, but like i sometimes turn off my subs because i want it more chill relaxing
the question is, could i have wired it wrong? like when u guys say not enough power to move the speakers, could that really happen, i dont see how?!
ill try to play around with high pass and low pass filter
