Question My sub box is sliding around everywhere in my trunk!

Hey guys,
I've got a single 12' sub in a box in the trunk, and its really sliding around back there. And takes the carpet along with it too. I'm wondering if you guys knew a good way to fix/mount that puppy down so that it stops pulling on my wiring?

Thanks very mucho!

not wanting to drill into the boot floor, i made a MDF false floor, wide enough to wedge between the shock towers so it couldnt move, then used brackets to attatch the sub to the MDF. oh and the MDF went underneath the carpet.

What's wrong with bolting into the floor? It's almost like cardboard. I have 3 L brackets connected to my 2 12" sub box and I *can* take corners like a maniac with no problems whatsoever.

Right now I just have an amp in the back for my speakers, I have it mounted on a board, right behind the seats, on the floor. The board is drilled into the spare tire cover.

You guys are crazy. Just go to your local office supply store (Staples, Office Max or whatever) and get some velcro. For like a couple bucks you can buy circle, square or sheets of it. Four 1-2 inch squares at the corners of your enclosure will be more than enough to keep in place. In fact, it'll be a bitch to even get it in place and take it out. All you need is the side that sticks to the carpet, but the package will come with both. This will/should work for the people whose carpet is moving with the sub.

I'll give velcro a try, putting it on the board under the carpet, and hopefully itll stick well enough to keep everything from being pulled up and around.

Thanks guys! If theres anything else that you guys have tried post up here!

To prevent the box from moving around and theft, I used some kitchen/bath countertop bolts on the inside of the box to the spare tire cover on my ex-g/f's Accord. No ugly brackets to be seen on the outside of the box.

I've had the velcro holding my box in the trunk, with a little velcro underneath the carpet attached to the floor. This keeps everything in place. Only problem is when you need to take out the box, the velcro attaches to the carpet in the trunk and releases from the box, leaving the adhesive side vulnerable to get dirt and grit on it.

At this point, I'm trying to solve how to get the velcro to release the carpet but stay on the box. I'm thinking maybe putting a strip on duct tape or something with more a more adhesive surface on the box and then putting the velcro over the strip of tape.

Depending on the velcro you get the adhesive may not be too strong, you can reinforce it with a stronger adhesive.

He never said he installed it himself and I'm sure he could have figured out how to do it, he just wanted advice on a simple/cheap way of doing it. Calm down. If anyone is the dumbass it's you for flaming someone asking a question. You just asked a noobie question about tuning your system. Why can't you let him as a question about securing his enclosure?
