question about subs and amp

Ok here is the dilemma, i bought some 2 12" pioneer subs and a 1000w monoblock amp from a friend and were trying to wire it to my factory head unit but the subs dont seem to get enought power. The amp turns on and the subs work but they are just very very quiet. We used a line output converter to wire the RCA cables and have a 2gauge wire running from the battery to the amp with an in-line fuse. The amp is grounded and turns on with the car but like i said no power. We tried almost everything, any suggestions???

ya, we have a power wire running from the battery to the amp with an in-line fuse, a negative running off the amp to a ground, a power wire running from the headunit power to the amp, a line output converter wired to the from speakers (+) to (+) and (-) to(-) and two wires grounded, and RCA cables running from the line output converter to the amp. And of course the subs are wired to the amp. Does everything seem right?

I know there are some people on here who have already done this, can you give any advice???

Most any trouble I have had aside from the obvious easy stuff, has been ground related. I always check that first. Also anytime you drop in wire size, put in a fuse, you wouldn't want to cook the smaller wire and burn up your car!!

Have you adjusted the gain or the output from the LOC?
