Aftermarket subs and amp install on 03 avalon. Where to tap in line converter?

Hey guys I just purchased an 03 Avalon XLS and love it! I would like to put my sub box with 2 12's in the trunk and wire up the amp but where in the trunk do I tap my box for the RCA's for the amp? And I have the JBL 6 disc with factory sub in the rear deck if that means anything. Thanks!

Stock stereos don't have RCAs. You can use LOC to rear speakers or use high in if your amp has that.

I know the factory HU doesn't have RCA's. I have installed many stereos and subs/amps in other cars before but I am new to toyota's and I am just wondering which wires in the trunk I can tap into for the LOC actually. I basically just need to know what color the rear speaker wires are and where they are located. Thanks!

In the second generation, I belive the rear speakers are still in the doors, correct? You may be able to identiify the wire coloring with the panel off, and intercept it in the door jam for the shortest run. Otherwise you would have to run it to behind the glovebox, or the radio, wherever the amplifier is.

Of course I just blew over the part where you mentioned you have a factory subwoofer.

Just tap right off that badboy and see how it sounds! With the line converter of course. If JBL did it right then the door speakers would be on high pass filters, and you would loose bass that method.

If you tap right off the subwoofer, you then Y the connection for L and R amplifier inputs. And the factory subwoofer should already be crossoverd, saving more doller billz. (by not needing a crossover)

Try to see if the factory subwoofer has +/- symbols on it. Unless you have a phase reverse switch on your amplifier, you may have to reverse the speaker connection to your line converter if it sounds funny.

Thanks alot man! I'll tap it into the sub and see what comes of it. I don't have anything major thats going to shake the car just a couple small 12's that sound real good all around for different types of music so I can keep the bass level down and get a touch better SQ out of the stock speakers. I'm excited lol. Let ya guys know how it goes!
