Upgrading speakers

Hi, I just got my parents '95 corolla and I want to get new speakers instead of the stock ones (i don't know much about car audio at all)

Right now it has:
stock head unit
stock 2 front door speakers

I want to replace the 2 front door speakers as well as get rear ones behind the seats (above trunk).

I know the front ones r 4" and rear is 6x9 right, how many 6x9 do you usally put in the rear? would i need a new head unit to power them? Or is stocke enough? Also for the rear speakers do I get bassy ones?

Thanks.

the ones in the back are round 16cm ones, stock. if u want bass get a bazooka or a properly done sub, or get a pair of good 6x9, maybe your Stock HU won't be able to move those as good as an aftermarket unit.

stock rear speakers ar 6.5" rounds, not 6x9 ovals.

aftermarket deck is needed, pioneers are good and cheap a DEH 1900MP is a good starter deck that sounds great.

i have some GOOD front speakers for $80+shipping and custom rear 6x9 mounts with infiniti kappa 6x9's that are 4 ohm and can run off a head unit for $100+ shipping. both are a good deal and less than what i paid for them new, the custom mounts come free with the 6x9's...if i can get them out of the car in one piece. (fingers crossed). custom hand made by me from 3/4" thick hardwood plywood.

you can put 6x9 speakers in the rear deck. There are another set of openings for 6x9's, but you would need speaker adapter brackets. Plus you would need to cut another pair of holes in the removable fabric top if you want to put 6x9's.

If you put 6x9's in the rear, you only really need just a pair. Having 2 pair is a waste. Most audio aficionados would probably recommend you put components in the front as the rear speakers are mostly rear fill

i have the 2 5.25" round in my 1990 in the rear deck, and im about to put a 6x9 4 way back there just to give a lil more volume and mid range, those little speakers are only really good for hi volume/low bass. thats where subs come in. but, since i have both little speakers (3 and 4 way) and the subs, i HAVE to get a 6x9 in there, to fully round out the sound.
