To start off the vehicle I'm working with is a 98 camry. I started competing in sound comps this year and haven't done as well as I would like. I've done pretty well for my first year with three 2nd place finishes but I would like to get my score up.
The organization I compete in is broke down in watt and cone area classes and is monitored by clamping the sub amp during the run. In my class you can have one 12" two 10" or three 8" woofers and up to 500 watts with 5% overhead.
When it comes down to it the equipment doesn't matter as much as build design and that's what I think is holding me back.
Here is a box I built for my 12" RE Audio SX
It's tuned to 40hz which is a lot higher then I would prefer but it seems to keep the numbers up and remain listenable. The trouble I am having is getting all the pressure in the cab of the car. I'm trying to come up with a new design that will seal the sub and port to the trunk opening of the car but am worried that it will sound like shit when the seats are upright.
Any ideas?
