Putting rear speakers in a 96 Tercel

I want to install rear speakers in my 96 Tercel which only have front speakers. I looked for speakers wiring in the trunk but couldn't find any. Where should I look? Is the wiring supposed to be there even if it didn't come with rear speakers? Thanks for your help!

I may be between the rear shelf trim and metal structure. It should be close to the speaker cut-outs.

well according to crutchfield and assuming you are using your factory head unit, you should have 4" speakers in the front, 6.75" in the rear deck

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dx3WZDQ...car/mycar.aspx

crutchfield sells master data sheets which show you where your speakers are located and how to remove them as well as how to remove your head unit. Usually this is free when you buy a head unit from them. I believe those master data sheets are about $10

Well I did replace the head unit and my Tercel didn't come with rear speakers, only basic front 4"s. I can see the rear speakers cut-outs and I will try to check between the rear shelf trim and metal structure to find the wiring during the weekend and will sure keep you updated. Thanks!

I'm sure you can put in wiring for a set of rear speakers. The big challenge and headache will be how to run the wiring along the side.

What size speakers are you thinking of putting in the rear deck?? 6.5" and 6x9's are good sizes...probably would stick with 2way coaxials. I'd go with 4" components for the front

Did find the rear speakers wiring. They were exactly where you said, sienna1, between the rear shelf trim and metal structure.

thanks to all for your help!

that's good because putting in wiring for rear speakers that aren't normally their with factory wiring would sound like an afternoon job...like it would take a lot of patience to go wiring down the side and to the rear deck. That's why when buying a new car, it's always good to opt for a standard radio and speakers because then the factory wiring is put there already!
