Speakers won't fit???

Wsup there,

I just got some component mb quarts front speakers for my o3 tacoma the size is 6 1/2's i think. Well the stock speakers are 5x9 so my mb's wont fit. My question is what do I have to do to make it fit. Also, I'm really clueless when it comes to sound systems so go easy. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot. peace

a couple of options ive seen....u could mold the speakers into the stock door speaker holes...which probably wont work....either u send the speaks back and get the right size or make urself some speaker boxes and put em behind ur seats

Here's one option, kind of complicated but it works nice for a clean install of different size speakers. First remove whatever covers the door panel, vinyl, leather whatever. Then lay fiberglass (preferably a strong weave not matte) on both sides of the door panel material, covering the old speaker hole.
You can find tips on laying fiberglass with resin on other sites. Then after it hardens cut the correct size hole for your speaker in the fiber glass. Re-cover door, either salvaging old material or buying some new stuff and install speakers.
I did a similar thing on my 89 pickup but i was mostly laying the glass to strengthen the cheap cardboard door panel. It looks real sweet when your done and the door panel feels solid and expensive.
