Installed new CD Player in a 98 Avalon and now the sound distorts when bass is heavy

I’m a noob that doesn’t know much about car audio, so forgive me if my questions are stupid.

I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon and a few months ago, I replaced the factory CD player with a Pioneer DEH-1900MP CD player, and ever since then the sound from the front door speakers distorts whenever there is a lot of bass in a song. The sound from the back door speakers also distorts, but not as much as the front speakers. I’m assuming that I just need to install new speakers that can handle more watts and that should solve the problem, but again, I’m a noob when it comes to car audio so I wanted to make sure before I go buy it.

The manual of my Pioneer DEH-1900MP CD player says that it provides Maximum Power Output of 50 Watts x 4 and Continuous Power of 22 Watts x 4. I was considering buying these speakers: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=17059
which have a Peak Power Handling rating of 160 Watts and a RMS Power rating of 80 Watts; would that be good for my vehicle and CD Player?

Thanks for the help!

You've got it right. If your running the stock speakers, they do not handle much power before they have issues. Replace them and it should solve the problem. I don't know what your budget is but the better the quality of the speaker, the better it will sound. If your just looking for the bass, drop in cheap speakers and a decent sub. I don't know to much about Audibahn but the response range and sensational aren't that great. But like I said, if you want bass, drop em and and toss in a sub and amp and you will be fine. They are much better than the stock speakers though, so its a good improvement either way.

good general rule of thumb is to set the crossovers on your head unit for the speakers around 100hz, sub is generally good around 80hz to start.

Factory speakers can only handle between 1-5 rms watts...aftermarket head units put out roughly 14-22 rms watts per channel so blowing them is easy to do!
