gen 7 help with previous installed aftermarket radio

Hi, I am trying to upgrade my headunit but it turns out the previous owner of the car also upgraded and now im stuck on how to take it out.

I can't remove the trim panel to get to the 4 screws because theres some sort of plate blocking it, heres a few pictures.

anybody have any idea how I can remove it.

you need a set of radio removal tools, most likely the ones on the top of left of this picture:

You stick the flat blades, and it should then catch on the sleeve and you pull it out.

The previous owner shouldn't have installed that security sleeve... they're usually used for domestic cars.

Looks like a shotty install.

that's where harbor freight is golden. I don't suppose they are up near you?

anyway, if were me and I did not have the tools, I'd just pull the radio fuse and break the shit out of that crappy radio without hurting the corolla

once you get that sleeve out, you can see about doing the install the right way.
