sound

I have a 99 Camry. The sound system/ cd player doesn't seem to be working real well. The cd player skips a lot but not b/c of bumps of anything. It basically just skips randomly. There's a better change of it skipping just because than skipping after hitting a bump or something. Also, the speakers mess up sometimes. the music will be playing but then it just blanks out. One time my friend shut the door to the car while a cd was playing and the speakers just quit for a few secs. Anyone know why this stuff is happening?

I think you need a new cd player.

Does it do it with store bought CD's or home made CD's or both?

I think it skips the most w/ commercially produced cd's versus a cdr from home
and while we're on the subject of audio, does anyone know where the the radio antennae is located? I know its in the rear just which side?

Your head unit is most likely dying and needs to be replaced. And I'm pretty sure the 99' Camry's have an antenna located in the rear windshield. I'm not sure which side of the car the wire is run though.
