Making a corolla less noisy

As many of you have noticed our 09 are noisy. I can hear wind hitting the mirror. When I was replacing my window it required me to take my door panel off. When I took the panel off I noticed that the doors were barly inselated, theres was just this thin padding which I'am sure does not do much, as far as obserbing sound. Bassicly all I want to do is take those stock paddings off and replace them with some nice sound proof pading. Similar to the once they use at like recording studios just not that thick. Has anyone done this on here? I' am just wondering if doing that alone will make the car quiet.

I dont want to pay for a brand. Instead buy that rubbery material at a hardware store. I dont know if doing just the doors is gonna make a big difference, I mean those doors are empty. The floor seams tick thoug, so I dont know I think I' am just going to do the doors since Its easy. I just dont know where to buy the material from.

I hope you are not talking about peel and seal. Be careful about putting asphalt into your vehicle because it smells awful, it will move on you on hot days, and on cold days it will lose all its adhesion properties.

If you are buying the silencer on ebay make sure you ask when the lot was obtianed. Some times you will get a bad batch and again you will have the same issues as the asphalt. Raam mat (sp?) is probably going to be the best option for you.

My point exactly, when it comes to stuff like this, you get what you pay for. Dynamat is already well known and established so it takes the hassles and guesswork out of choosing something that will last.

Dynamat Extreme is butyl rubber on aluminum foil, Dynamat is asphalt and rubber on aluminum foil, you can ignore normal Dynamat. Dynamat Extreme an similar products work in several ways.

1st: High frequency noise is absorbed and released as heat energy.

2nd: Weight is added so high frequency noise is absorbed and released as lower frequency vibrations.

3rd: The aluminum foil reflects heat and sound.

4th: When used to seal doors it creates a barrier between the outside and the cabin of the car, When used this way it has the most effect.

Asphalt mats are missing #1, peal and seal is missing #1 and the effects of #3 are greatly reduced due to a thin or even missing foil layer, that and they smell and require extensive preparation of the surface to make sure they don't fall off and make a mess, they also have a low melting point, you do not want to clean that off your carpet!

For doors I would recommend Damplifier or Damplifier Pro, for the floors I would recommend Luxury Liner over 2' square pads of Damplifier on the floor pans where your feet rest, also since the carpet would have to be removed their are holes in the floor from assembly that are poorly covered with metal tabs, seal those up with some water proofing tape from home depot, the thick aluminum kind.

Under coating the car will also help, and as a plus it helps greatly with rust, just make sure to clean the rust off first (rust converter will work too).

I don't even want to think about how much I've spent sound proofing my car, but my stereo rattles not only the rear view, but the side mirrors, sun roof and windows as well, it even broke the seal on the rear window, now it sounds like my car farts when I play Intergalactic. Despite all that with the windows and doors closed you can't hear it from over 15 feet away.
